ProXR Expansion Boards
XR Expansion Boards plug into the XR Expansion Port on a ProXR or Taralist controller to add more relays.
Expansion boards do not operate independently and require a compatible controller.
ProXR systems can expand to control up to 256 relays.
Add Relays as Your Needs Grow
ProXR Controllers were designed with relay expansion in mind. The XR Expansion Port allows you to easily add banks of external relays to any ProXR or Taralist controller equipped with the XR port.Expansion boards can be added at any time as your system grows, allowing you to expand your relay capacity up to a maximum of 256 total relays.
As expansion boards are connected, additional relay banks become available automatically. Simply plug in another expansion board whenever your application requires more relays.
XR Expansion Boards
XR Expansion Boards connect to the XR Expansion Port on the main controller using the included ribbon cable. Once connected, the relays on the expansion board operate just like the relays on the main controller. All commands are sent to the main ProXR controller, which manages both its onboard relays and any connected expansion boards.
The XR Expansion Port
The XR Expansion Port is where the expansion capability of the ProXR system begins. This dedicated connector allows compatible controllers to communicate with external relay expansion boards.ProXR controllers and Taralist time-activated controllers include the XR Expansion Port, allowing them to add additional banks of relays as your system grows. Expansion boards also include an XR port so multiple relay banks can be chained together.
Using the included 6" ribbon cable, expansion boards plug directly into the XR port of the main controller or another expansion board. As new boards are connected, the controller automatically makes the additional relay banks available - allowing systems to scale up to 256 total relays while using the same communication interface and command structure
Compatible Controllers
XR Expansion Boards are compatible with ProXR and Taralist controllers equipped with the XR Expansion Port.Controllers in the ProXR Lite series do not include an expansion port and cannot use expansion boards. To determine compatibility, simply look for PROXR in the controller part number.
Select Your Relay Type & Amperage
Choose the 16-channel expansion board that matches your load requirements:- SPDT Relays: 10A, or 20A
- SPST Relays: 30A
- DPDT Relays: 1A, 3A, or 5A
Use our Choosing a Proper Amperage to make the right call for your application.
💡 Relay Pros Pro Tip:
The relays on an expansion board don't need to match the relays on your main controller or other expansion boards. You can mix and match relay types and amperages to dial in exactly what your application requires - for example, adding a bank of DPDT relays when all the other boards have SPDT relays. This gives you ultimate flexibility as your system grows.
